White British kids form minority at one in four schools
(MENAFN) White British children are now a minority in one out of every four schools in England, according to newly released government data cited by The Telegraph. The report, based on a 2025 national school census covering over 21,500 institutions, highlights a significant demographic shift in the country's student population.
The figures reveal that 72 schools across England have no white British pupils at all, while in 454 schools they account for less than 2% of the student body. At Rockwood Academy in Birmingham, none of the 1,084 students were classified as white British, and Loxford School in Redbridge reported only 12 such students out of 2,779.
The trend is most evident in urban areas such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford, and Leicester. In London specifically, white British children are a minority in schools across all 32 boroughs, with the sole exception of Bromley, where they represent just over half (50.3%). In boroughs like Newham and Harrow, they make up only 5% and 7% of the student population, respectively.
The Telegraph described the changes as part of a broader “demographic shift,” noting a declining share of white British youth in many regions. This follows a recent report predicting that white British people could become a national minority by the early 2060s. According to the study by Professor Matt Goodwin of Buckingham University, their share of the UK population could fall from 73% today to around 33.7% by the end of the century, based on current trends in immigration, birth rates, and mortality.
Goodwin warned that the pace and scale of demographic change could spark significant public anxiety and political backlash. He emphasized the need for the UK government to address these concerns constructively in order to avoid future polarization and unrest.
